At different points throughout my life I have been told " Flow like water". I heard this as a child in Martial Arts and once again when I first started Mountain Biking. This mantra is also how I deal with life ...... You cant fight the current forever so you must learn to look for the positive of your CURRENT(situation). Last week on Friday my wife's car decided to quit. Not minor problem quit, but major, $9000 new motor quit. The following morning, my personal laptop decided to also give up the ghost.
That was a pretty good start to the week :sarcasm: and I cant say that I wasn't feeling overwhelmed or stressed, because I was. But I attacked each situation head on and the week unfolded on a positive note. Over the weekend I purchased a new vehicle for the spousal unit, ordered a part and fixed the laptop, and got to ride my mountain bike on Sunday. The Sunday ride started with my brother-in-law literally ramming into me on the first descent and sending me headfirst into the terra firma below. In a full on look-ma-no-hands headstand, my neck folded over like wet spaghetti and I laid on the ground running the mental checklist, of the condition of each of my body's parts.
The rest of the ride was uneventful but the post ride was augmented with bar-b-q'ed hotdogs and craft beer from our local brewery, Craft Brewing Co. So do I view the week by the fact I have a broken 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona in my driveway and I'm gimping around in a funky post accident gait..... Nope, I view it as a weekend that I got to ride, BBQ, exercise some technical skills, and reflect on how I deal with adversity. Just remember that YOU control the way you see things, even in the worst of times.
