One of the best parts of Sea Otter is spying the latest product prototypes before anyone else. At Sea Otter you will see plenty of goodies in the expo but lots of times the gems are in the pit area. We caught up with David Meredith of One Ghost Industries and Candy Components to check in. If you are not yet familiar with OGI you may recall the Musashi made or 2012 Dream Bikes list earlier in the year, and their racers as well as bike owners have been making lots of noise. OGI rider Art Babcock would finish 38th in a stacked field of 124 pros while beating the likes of Sam Hill, Brendan Fairclough, Bryn Atkinson, and plenty of other big names. Recently Candy Components did a rework of their Candy Bars with some fresh new colorways and graphics that we had yet to see in person.
We definitely liked the new font type and colorways on the Candy Bars but we were real disappointed to find out the new pedals they are working on, were not yet ready. DM must have picked up on our disappointment because the next thing we know he was pulling out a prototype product to bring our smiles back.
It is said that candy will give you a big rear but Candy Components is working to make you phatter by blinging out your bike with a new hub that we cant wait to see in action. The hub features a patented 6, 3-point pawls for 120 full
engagement points and 1.5 degrees of float necessary for suspension movement. The piece looked and felt nice with very smooth action during our brief introduction and we will keep you in the loop on any further development. With that we were on our way to others pits so that David could get the race team hooked up with their new 2013 Saint group
