2012 SPEED AND STYLE COVERAGE
04/21/2012 - Finals were a definite step up in excitement as riders added Style by airing big tricks for a time advantage. This stepped up the level of competition and made things fun for the fans which came out in droves. We had riders 3'in the center jump left and right, whips, flips , and even a rider in a speedo to keep things interesting. When it was all said and done Martin Soderstrom would continue his winning ways by taking home the victory. Last week he won the Rocket Air Slopestyle competition, and this week he adds to the hardware with wins in the Bunnyhop competition( 48 inches and they ran out of bar), Dirt Jump Jam, and the Speed and Style. Congrats to Martin for a strong Sea Otter showing.
SPEED AND STYLE FINALS RESULTS
04/20/2012 - Today was the SPEED and STYLE QUALIFIER at SEA OTTER and it brought out some of the worlds best riders for this hybrid style event. The contest is scored on your combined run times, hence speed, but you are penalized if you do not show your style and pull tricks over the jump sections. Think of a pumptrack combined with dirt jump artistry of a ranchstyle competition. The qualifying runs are judges purely on time, so we didn't see most the riders pull any crazy stunts. The vibe of this event is great an the riders really appeared to enjoy themselves out there.
SPEED AND STYLE TOP QUALIFIERS
The Top 32 Riders with the fastest combined run times qualified for tomorrows finals. Here is the Top 16 Qualifiers from today (The only big name that qualified for tomorrow but was out of the Top 16 was Mitch Chubey.
