  Chad Kagy Joins the Teva Team

09.18.2012– (Goleta, CA) Best known for his accomplishments in the world of BMX, professional rider Chad Kagy has announced today his plans to join Teva® and its team of respected athletes. With Kagy’s plans to blur his BMX roots with his interest in freeride mountain biking, his addition to the Teva team further solidifies the brands growing commitment and passion to the mountain bike community and culture.

“I like how progressive Teva is with their design and products,” says Kagy. “They recently stepped into mountain biking and support some of the best athletes and events within this space. I appreciate their approach and passion.”

Officially kicking off his career at the age of 17, Kagy has made a name for himself in the BMX world by consistently placing in the top three at both the XGames and Dew Tour over the past five years. He is known for his versatility in BMX but took the crowd by surprise at the 2012 Winter Teva Mountain Games when he won the on-snow Teva Best Trick event, sparking his interest in mountain biking.

"I think my timing of stepping into mountain biking myself aligns perfectly with the goals of Teva. We are both new to the space and have a lot of potential working together to have fun and make a difference in this industry," continues Kagy.

In addition to his competitive calendar, Kagy is also part of Bikes Over Baghdad—a small group of athletes who have toured the Middle East to boost morale of the troops in Kuwait and Iraq.

“Chad’s background and credibility in the bike world will bring some fresh flavor and attention to the world of freeride mountain biking,” says Seth Pulford, Teva Sports Marketing Manager. “As we continue to push the level of performance footwear in the bike category, Chad will be an integral part of R&D, as well as marketing around the category.
